Aluminum Keyboard - Plain and Flat

I have come to the conclusion that the iMac flat aluminum keyboard is one of the best looking keyboard ever.

However, it is also one of the keyboards that is absolutely terrible for aspiring, brain starved, burned out writers.

The flat design makes it so uninspiring, so plain, so cold, so simplistic that the IBM clickety clickey keyboard just positively trounces it! The IBM keyboard just beats in on sheer ' I want to write a novel on this damn keyboard' feeling.

Where as on the Apple aluminum keyboard, it just squeaks in a tiny voice, " I wanna twitter".

Asus Eee PC 1000HE: 9.5 Hours!

New processor which is 0.06Ghz faster, and a increase in 134Mhz Front Side Bus Speed

Let's face it, the exciting news is that it will apparently run up 9.5 hours! That it fantastic. So if we divide the battery life in half, that's the very least we'll get if we were really cynical.

What's not to like? The 3.2 pounds of weight. Sorry, but I'm spoilt silly by netbooks that weight a lot less than that. This is heavy in my mind.

I like the way they've used the chiclet keyboard. I don't think it's better, but it looks good. Shame about the standard boring chasis. Not Asus's fault to be honest, they were the first out and other's have just trumped in design wise.

Fullscreen or not to Fullscreen. That is the...oh whatever.

Whenever I use a computer, be it a desktop, a laptop, netbook or a PDA, except on a huge 30inch screen, I always have to make it full screen.

I can concentrate better as I am not distracted by the desktop background. The mac doesn't seem to allow me to work this way. It just doesn't allow full screen on most native apps.

It's hard to compare documents if I have to manually resize each window. I appreciate the logic behind it, but it is so counterproductive. When I do work, I much prefer to use the dreaded Windows.

Now, I'm wondering if I will ever switch.

iPhone App written by a 9 Year Old

Incredible! If the economy wasn't so bad at the moment, this would be fantastic news. Images of the movie 'War Games' and old retro days of the Spectrum, Commodores, where you could literally write your own commercial games.

Unfortunately, the news is a bitter blow to anyone who has been let go in the IT community.

There are times when I feel that tech is something only for the guys. There are some truly awesome netbooks and umpc in Japan that never get released in the US.

Some men like to show off their netbooks but complain about the cramp keyboard. It's probably true that they find it difficult to type on. Especially with their fat fingers that can't help but press two keys at the same time.

Yet at the same time, they adore their smartphones and when it comes to showing them off, they love to say how fast it is to type on the teeny tiny keyboard.

Windows 7 - Again (Nearly 7 Different Versions)

Here is the Windows 7 Line up.

* Starter
* Home Basic
* Home Premium
* Professional
* Enterprise
* Ultimate

The Starter is actually a non-starter as you're only allowed to run three programs - not sure if this is a joke.

Home Basic will probably be installed on severely underpowered but cool looking netbooks for women. You can bet the updated version of Sony Vaio P will install this one.

Home Premium comes with Aero and available at retails stores. This is the one most will expect but get confused when they get the Basic Version.

Professional comes with complicated and boring stuff like Domain Join and desktop host.

Enterprise is for business because of it's volume licensing. Most can ignore this.

Ultimate comes with everything, and who cares.

What outcry! So many versions again! But will anyone care? Not really. If they can access the web and play a few games, all is good.

Windows 7 - Not Again

Do we really need another operating system? After all, every one is just getting used to Vista. Now, we have to learn a new operating system. I'm not talking about the veteran users who went through the entire windows era and wants to put Windows 7 on everything including their calculator watches, we're talking about the new casual computer users.

The one's that just want to get on the net, facebook their lives and twitter themselves to no end, while ituning their ipods with the latest torrents. Surely you don't expect them to figure out again what everything is supposed to do again.
64 Bit, 32 Bit, 128 Bit means nothing, since the casual users are just figured out what a core two duo really is. Are have they?

Sony Vaio P - Squint! Squint!

Having seen the Sony Vaio P and played around with it, I can say it's the most hyped up piece of beauty ever.

It's hyped up battery life is pitiful. It's hyped up 8 inch screen which allows two webpages to be shown simultaneously looks good, but the fonts are so hard to read, one wonders what can be done on the netbook. Hyped up size that partially fits into your back pocket. It really isn't that thin and to be honest, the exterior casing when closed looks absolutely amazing, but open it up and it's ugh! Windows with boring silver palette keyboard.

So disappointed. Netbooks have now become really boring and I was hoping this would change everything. In fact netbooks have become so boring, I'm thinking of getting a smartphone instead.

UK Software Developers Earn More Money?

Games are all about America and Japan. The Xbox, the Nintendo and the Playstation. Making a game is not about being a clever programmer or having a great idea. It takes a lot planning, time and most of all money. Without money, most games will never see the day of light. Running costs that reaches over six or seven figures are the norm and what you really need is a good team of developers. They also don't come cheap.

In the UK Female Games Developers are earning a lot of money. In fact they earn higher than the average national worker and they also earn more than their male counterparts. If only statistics reflected reality and not some skewed method of voluntary data collection.

Google Search Broken - Literally Breaking News

Literally hours ago, any search made by Google was effectively denied. It seems to be clearing up now with reports from Belgium being the first to resume service.

Thousands of sites flooding with the news and with the sudden jump to alternative search engines, it's a good time to see what the alternatives are.

Though, I have a funny feeling by the time I finish posting this, everything will be fine.
