Linux on the Netbooks - They Blew it to Hell!

I really didn't like the the way linux came out on earlier netbooks.

Why couldn't linux come in one flavor?

Why couldn't the interface be a bit more stylish? They could have put all those 3D zoomy, twirly, flashy, bouncing features. Instead they went for something colorful and child-like. If it's going to be unfamiliar, make it cool.

Why didn't Linux come with a gimmick? OSX had cover flow, expose and spaces.

If there was one platform that could push Linux into the casual mainstream, netbooks were it.

With Firewalls, anti-virus etc slowing down the atom processor, the Linux was so the answer.

Now with windows 7 coming out, it's all over.

Safari 4 Beta - Something Something.

I think netbooks, Apple and Nintendo have hit the head on what people tend to want today. People are too casual to care much about the specs, so long as it gets the job done by being cute, pretty and gimmicky.

Take Apple for instance. They take something good from something and then put it into their something. (???)

Their new beta version of Safari 4 is really pretty and very fast. It takes the pretty features of Google Chrome such as the title bar tabs. They then takes features from their iTunes, which took features from someone else, such as coverflow and made it look really pretty.

Where as Firefox 3.1 beta 3 has great techy features, such as the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, Web worker thread support, Native JSON support and improved Gecko layout engine.....

It still reigns supreme. It's Add-ons are forever the reason. There is going be one add-on that is indispensable to someone. That's if they know that they exist.

White Keyboard - So Good You Can Eat It!

Apple's Netbook - Still want one?

Even though it's fake, I would definately want Apple to make something like that.

I would even pay Sony Vaio P prices for one.

I would buy one even if it runs on the slowest dual core, core 2 duo, core core core whatever processors, as long as it's not the Atom.

I would buy one even if you can't take out the battery.

I would buy one even if you couldn't upgrade the ram.

I would buy one even if it had only 1 USB port.

In fact!

I would buy one even if wasn't made by Apple!

Samsung Netbook - Oh! It's so BIG!

Keep them coming! This time from Samsung N310.

Usual boring netbook specs. Atom this and XP that.

What makes it different from the rest is the range of colors. I particularly like that weird green color that makes the somewhat bland netbook look quite chique(chic).

Most laptops just splash the color on the top, but this one has it on the sides and bottom too.

I'm liking the scrabble keyboard too, which now seems to be gaining popularity.

Just beware of the BIG Samsung Logo on it's lid.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 - There is something about it...

There is something about the Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 that makes me want one.

It touts great features such as it's slim size, carbon fibre materials and it's light weight. All goodness, but none of which peaks my interest. After all, I don't want to lug around a 16 incher when a cheap but stylish netbook can get the job done.

When closed, it looks incredibly boring and makes me sleepy. But open it up and POW! The retro colored styling has got me hot and bothered.

LG Phones - They're not Goggles!

Always liked slide phones. Not because it's better than flip phones, it's not, but I like them because they're different.

Take LG-GD900 from Korea. Their concept phone has transparent keypads. I just can't be bothered to fathom how and what they are good for.

But I still like them.

720p Dell Mini 10 - HD?

You just cannot complain when you can upgrade a little Dell Mini 10 to a 1,366 x 768 resolution. Netbooks already suffer from a lack of pixels already. Except the gorgeous but slow as fornication, Sony Vaio P.

But HD? Unless you can custom build the Dell Mini 10 to include a cpu that is better than the standard Atom 1.33ghz, you might as well be watching a slideshows with an original special collage style.

Unless the Intel GMA500 on board video has something special up it's sleeves.

Asus Eee PC 1004DN - Now you can watch DVDs

I like the fact that the Eee PC 1004DN is a netbook that comes with a DVD drive. Sometimes when I get sensitive data or holiday videos from someone, they usually burn it onto a DVD.

The only problem with the Asus range is that although models such as the 101's and 1008HA are slim and sexy, open it up and it looks pretty uninspiring. It's good to see the gorgeous Sony Vaio P(but slow as a scooter) and HP Mini 1000 liven up the netbook market.

Touchscreen Desktop Galore! MSI Wind Top

Desktops used to be big and noisy. But now with the new slim line desktops that take little space and look darn sexy, it's a good time to ditch the notebook and get a nice big desktop. Especially the ones that come with touch screen capability.

The Wind Top AE1900 looks deceptively like the Eee Top 1602. Great, but don't care features include the ultra low power 45W operation. Great fun, but non-essential feature include the touch screen.

Runs on the Atom processor so you can do just about everything except games and your photoshop fantasies.
